About Leap
Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) is a fully-funded Three weeks leadership development training programme, organised in collaboration with Ministry of Human Resource Development, for second level academic functionaries in public funded higher education institutions. Designed as a training
programme with two weeks domestic and one week foreign training, the main objective of the programme is to prepare second tier academic heads who are likely to assume leadership roles in the future.

LEAP Drives Collaborative Action
By conducting programmes in partnership with foreign  University of Pennsylvania. The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education is one of the United States premier education schools. Penn GSE students and faculty learn and work in an Ivy League environment that supports both practical knowledge building and high-quality research.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES HELA AND CALEM
Tata Institute of Social Sciences, with the support of Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, conducted a needs assessment of leadership gap in Higher Education. Subsequently, a detailed nationwide hearing was organised and various forms of engagements were undertaken for over nine months, including consultations, workshops, pilot training programmes, focus group discussions, individual reflections of administrators and scholars, etc.

Who Can Apply?

The Leadership Development Program aims to equip second level functionaries in Public Funded Institutions such as Deans, Heads of Departments, and Directors of Divisions/Schools with the leadership skills necessary for governance roles in academic institutions. The mandatory eligibility conditions are

At least 8 years of experience in the grade of Professor.

At least 3 years’ experience in administrative positions

High academic standing (Preferably 30 publications in SCOPUS indexed international journals or UGC approved journals)

The age has been relaxed from 55 years to 58 years as on 31st December 2018

PROGRAMME DURATION

The domestic component of LEAP Summer Batch 2019 will be held from 19th August to 30th August 2019 at Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai and the foreign component will be held from 16th September to 20th September, 2019 at Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania
